Rookie
Rookie
Rookie Division Baseball is available for boys and girls ages 7-8. This is the first level where players have an opportunity to Pitch. It is an instructional baseball program focused on introducing live pitching and baseball plays, while also improving the basics of hitting and fielding. This division's primary objective is to ensure the players have fun, learn the basics of baseball, and constantly stay engaged throughout a game and practices. Rookie introduces competitive baseball and begins keeping score. Every player gets at least two at bats and plays at least 6 outs in the field.
Players are expected to stay in the dugout or on the field of play during a game and are not allowed to leave to visit Parents or friends. Parents are not allowed in the dugout. Injuries or bathroom breaks are the only exception.
Games are scheduled for NO NEW inning after 90 minutes so they are typically complete in less than 2-hrs. Games are typically played at Fremont Junior High, Red Mountain High School, or Quail Run. Practices are held at Fremont Junior High, Red Mountain High School, or a local elementary school.
Pitch Count
RMLL and Little League International are focused on protecting young pitcher's arms. At a minimum, RMLL will comply with Little League rules regarding pitch count and in some cases may be even more conservative.
Volunteers
Rookie divisions require lots of Parent Volunteers to help coach players in the field and at practice, maintain order in the dugout, and most importantly to make sure every player has a snack after the game.
